平成28年4月に開講されました金沢大学先進予防医学研究科（共同大学院博士課程）の研究機関として先進予防医学研究センターが，平成28年に医薬保健研究域に設置され，平成29年6月に既存組織である脳・肝インターフェースメディシン研究センターの発展的解消による体制整備を行い，世界的な予防医学研究拠点の形成のため，大学全体の組織として学内共同教育研究施設に位置付けられました。
この１年間で専任教員は1人から，7人に大幅に拡大しました。海外のリサーチ・プロフェッサー（RP)を雇用するなど，国際展開力を強化しております。
その中で特記すべきは，平成29年4月，金沢大学は医薬保健研究域長の金子周一教授のご努力とご尽力により肝がんと肝炎対策の分野でWHOコラボレーティングセンター（WHO-CC）に指定されました。
WHO-CCとは，スイス・ジュネーブにある世界保健機関（WHO）と協働してWHOの展開するプログラムを実施する組織で，肝がん分野では世界発の快挙です。
今後は，先進予防医学研究センターの国際予防医学部門が担当部門としてウイルス性肝炎の撲滅を目指し，学際的な予防医学の研究と実践の展開が期待されております。
また，先進予防医学研究科は海外大学との国際共同学位プログラムを設置することを目指しており、目下、欧州での予防医学のハブ的機能を有するドイツデュッセルドルフ大学との共同研究拠点を構築しており，国内では数少ない海外URA制度を活用し，これらを基盤に予防医学の大学院教育を共同で実施するという国際共同大学院の設置を目指しております。

The Advanced Preventive Medical Sciences Research Center was established in the Graduate School of Medical Science in 2016 as a research institution of the Kanazawa University Graduate School of Advanced Preventive Medical Sciences (joint graduate school doctoral course) started in April 2016.
In June 2017, the Brain/Liver Interface Medicine Research Center was integrated into a joint education and research institution of the university to establish a global preventive medical science research center.
In the space of one year, the number of full-time instructors increased greatly from one to seven, including overseas research professors, expanding our global research capability.
In particular, it is worth mentioning that in April 2017 Kanazawa University was designated as a WHO collaborating center (WHO-CC) in the fields of liver cancer and hepatitis countermeasures due to the efforts of professor Shuichi Kaneko, director of the Graduate School of Medical Science. WHO-CC is an organization that works together with WHO (Geneva, Switzerland), a world leading institution in the research of liver cancer, to advance WHO programs.
The International Preventive Medicine section of the Advanced Preventive Medical Sciences Research Center is expected to carry out interdisciplinary research and the implementation of preventative medicine for the eradication of viral hepatitis.
The Kanazawa University Graduate School of Advanced Preventive Medical Sciences aims to establish a joint degree program with overseas universities, and is currently establishing a research center in collaboration with Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf, Germany, which is playing a role as a hub for preventive medicine in Europe. We aim to establish an international joint graduate school running a common degree program, utilizing overseas URA (Universities Research Administrator) systems, of which there are few in Japan.
